Free Bank of Asia Elcart cards sent to victims in Chon-Alai

In May 2017, a series of earthquakes took place on the border with Tajikistan with a magnitude of up to six points, which led to the destruction of 500 houses and social facilities in the Chon-Alai district of the Osh region, as a result of which thousands of families were left homeless.

Especially in support of the residents of this region, Bank of Asia CJSC issued free Elcart debit cards for 550 of the most affected families from five villages: Kara-Myk, Kara-Teyit, Shibae, Zhekendi, Chuluk. The implementation of this social project became possible thanks to the cooperation of the Bank of Asia with the National Red Crescent Society of Kyrgyzstan. In the period from June 28 to 29, Bank of Asia employees together with the NRCS employees left for Osh district, where they distributed free Elcart cards to affected residents of five nearby villages, through which hundreds of families were able to receive unconditional monetary compensation in the amount of 13,900 (thirteen thousand nine hundred) soms from international donors. The conditions for these cards are individual. The bank made the first year of service, including cash out, free of charge.

In addition to issuing cards, local bank specialists trained residents how to use a payment card correctly, explaining where and how to cash out their money, while simultaneously conducting a mini-lesson of financial literacy to the population. They also gave the concept of "Friendly Network" and what privileges cardholders may have when using the services of Bank of Asia in a network of partner banks.
Since June 30, all the victims, having traveled to the Osh branch, were able to use their card and cash out the accrued funds.

Currently, the Friendly Network includes seven commercial banks in Kyrgyzstan, and the total terminal network consists of 926 devices: 311 ATMs, 615 POS-terminals throughout the country. This network was created specifically for convenience and saving time and money for cardholders of listed banks. It allows the client to quickly, easily and without extra costs cash out cash at any ATM or POS terminal of the partner network of the Friendly Network partner. This means that residents of Chon-Alai can receive their monetary compensation at any time and in any nearest bank of the Friendly Network.
